A newly wed woman was found hanging to the ceiling fan of her house in Bihar’s Ara district in what is being called as a case of murder. 20-year-old Pooja Kumari was married to railway employee Manoj Kumar Mahto just seven months ago. According to sources, the girl had returned to her parents’ house just a few days after her wedding. She had come back to her in laws house seven days before her death. Signs of injuries have been found on the dead body. The victim’s father has lodged a complaint against her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and 5 other people.
The couple was married on 29 April 2017 and lived in the ground floor of the family’s three storey house in Ara’s Shahpur Thana area.
The victim’s father has accused the groom’s family of dowry harassment and also claimed that the groom had an incestuous relationship with one of his cousin sisters.
The victim knew about this and she would often have a fight with her husband regarding this. The father claims that the illegitimate relationship is the real reason behind his daughter’s death.
The accused husband had come to his hometown on 8th November on a few days leave. The father also said that his daughter was being tortured by the in-laws for the last three days. During this time they planned her murder and killed her.
The father Durgadutt Singh said that he had sold his land for his daughter’s marriage and he didn’t have more money for dowry.
