Hyderabad Woman Burnt Alive By Former Colleague In Full Public View Because She Did Not Want To Marry Him

December 21 was supposed to be a happy day for Sandhya Rani and her family. It was her brother’s birthday that day. The family planned to celebrate but little did they know that tragedy was going to struck when they least expected.

24-year-old Sandhya left her office at around 6:45 PM and was on the way home when she was stopped by Sai Karthik, a former colleague. The two had a heated exchange that reportedly lasted for 10 minutes in which Karthik asked why she wouldn’t say yes to marry him.

Suddenly, Karthik pulled out a kerosene bottle, poured it on her and set her on fire in the middle of a busy road; he fled the scene in a flash on his motorcycle. The incident happened in a span of a few minutes.

Sandhya was a graduate and was working as a receptionist at a fabrication unit.

When it finally registered that a woman was up in flames and screaming in utter agony, people put out the fire but the damage was already done; the 24-year-old suffered 60% burns.

BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya shared the heart-wrenching photos.

She was rushed to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and breathed her last on 22 December but not before naming the monster who did this to her. Sandhya never told her family the harassment she was facing.

Karthik was a former colleague of Sandhya but had lost his job. The two were said to be in a relationship but it ended soon after. It is being said that Karthik had been harassing the 24-year-old for months to marry him.

But Sandhya did not reciprocate, the accused allegedly told the police.
