Goa and Manipur were headed for hung assembly Congress and BJP were engaged in a close fight in both the states. The Congress narrowly led the BJP in Goa while in Manipur both parties were neck and neck, trends from assembly election results showed on Saturday morning.
In Goa, BJP chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar lost in his home seat. Here, the assembly has 40 seats and 21 is the halfway mark. The Aam Aadmi Party, which was aiming to expand its national footprint, failed opened its account in Goa and could not replicate its Delhi performance.
In Manipur, the Congress was fighting to retain its 15-year-old government. The assembly has 60 seats and the halfway mark is 31.
