One of the four ballistic missiles simultaneously fired by North Korea on Monday landed in the Sea of Japan about 200 kilometers north of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, Defense Minister Tomomi Inada said Thursday.
The government is staying increasingly alert because the location is believed to be the closest any North Korean missile has ever come to the four main islands of Japan.
Speaking to the House of Representatives Security Committee on Thursday, Inada said the four missiles fell in waters about 200 kilometers to 450 kilometers north of the peninsula.
